Nan Qin

Nan Qin is a distinguished research fellow of the Tenth People's Hospital affiliated to Tongji University, a former secretary-general of the International Human Microbiome Consortium (IHMC), deputy director of the Youth Committee and Standing Committee Member of Micro-Ecological Branch of Chinese Preventive Medicine Association. In 2015, he was awarded the title of “Great Challenge·Young Scientist” by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Gates Foundation. Nan Qin received his Ph.D. in microbiology at Virginia Tech University in 2008. Afterwards, Dr. Qin joined BGI in Shenzhen as the director of Microbial Genomics Department. During 2011-2016, he was appointed as the associate researcher and PH.D supervisor at the Collaborative Innovation Center for Infectious Diseases Diagnosis and Treatment of Zhejiang University School of Medicine. Dr. Qin is specialized in the association between gut microbiome and infectious diseases, metabolic diseases, autoimmune diseases, cancer immunotherapy. His long-term goal is to apply the new technology of gut microbiome in diagnostics, prognostics and health management. Dr. Qin has published more than 30 papers in Nature, Science, Nature Genetics, PNAS, PLOS Biology and other top academic journals since 2009.
